The Merger of the national sports acrobatics and gymnastics federations

After the merger of both the trampoline international federation (FIT) and the international federation of sports acrobatics (IFSA) within the fédération internationale de gymnastique (FIG), the same merger also occurs in some countries between the equivalent national federations.

Australia was the first country to take a decision in this way as the Australian Federation of Sports Acrobatics (AFSA), anticipating the international ratifications, already voted to dissolve and merge into the Australian Gymnastics Federation (AGF) on 25 september 1998.

In France, the General Assembly of the french trampoline and sports acrobatics federation (FFTSA) voted the same way on 27 february 1999 and his merger with the fédération française de gymnastique (FFG) is effective since march 1st, 1999.

La fusion des fédérations nationales de sports acrobatiques et de gymnastique

Après la fusion des fédérations internationales de trampoline (FIT) et des sports acrobatiques (IFSA) au sein de la fédération internationale de gymnastique (FIG), des fusions semblables ont également lieu dans certains pays entre les fédérations nationales équivalentes.

L'Australie fut le premier pays à prendre une décision dans ce sens puisque la fédération australienne des sports acrobatiques (AFSA), anticipant la ratification des accords au niveau international, vota sa dissolution et sa fusion avec la fédération australienne de gymnastique (AGF) dès le 25 septembre 1998.

En France, l'assemblée générale de la fédération française de trampoline et des sports acrobatiques (FFTSA) vota la même décision le 27 février 1999 et sa fusion avec la fédération française de gymnastique (FFG) est effective depuis le 1er mars 1999.

The case of Belgium is more special. There were no problem for trampoline as the Fédération Royale Belge de Gymnastique (FRBG) was affiliated to the FIT. The offical representative for Belgium in the IFSA, was not only a sports acrobatics federation but also and mostly a federation for physical Education. Unlike their sports acrobatics clubs, the federation did not wanted the IFSA to merge with FIG. All the sports acrobatics clubs released their affiliation to the Bond voor Lichamelijke Opvoeding (BVLO) and took an affiliation to the FRBG which became, de facto, the sports acrobatics representative to the FIG. The BVLO dissolved its sports acrobatics commission and continues to develop its other (main) activities.

Le cas de la Belgique est plutôt spécial. Il n'y eu pas de problème pour le trampoline puisque la Fédération Royale Belge de Gymnastique (FRBG) était affiliée à la FIT. La fédération officiellement affiliée à l'IFSA n'était pas seulement une fédération de sports acrobatiques mais aussi et surtout une fédération d'éducation physique. A l'inverse de ses clubs de sports acrobatiques, la fédération ne voulait pas de la fusion entre l'IFSA et la FIG. Tous les clubs de sports acrobatiques quitèrent la Bond voor lichamelijke opvoeding (BVLO) et s'affilièrent à la FRBG qui devint, de fait, la représentante pour les sports acrobatiques auprès de la FIG. La BVLO a dissout sa commission de sports acrobatiques et continue à développer ses autres (principales) activités.

The Irish gymnastics (IAGA) and sports acrobatics (ISAF) federations merged in august 1999 to form the Irish Gymnastics Limited. The president of the former ISAF is now the vice-president of the Irish Gymnastics.

En Août 1999, les fédérations irlandaises de gymnastiques (IAGA) et des sports acrobatiques (ISAF) se sont réunies pour former l'Irish Gymnastics Limited. Le président de l'ex-ISAF est à présent vice-président de l'Irish Gymnastics.

In Portugal, an agreement was signed between the trampoline and sports acrobatics federation (FPTDA) and the gymnastics federation (FPG). The FPTDA remains responsible for its disciplines and the FPG works for it as a mailbox for the relations with the FIG. The FPTDA pays for all expenses relative to trampoline and sports acrobatics, including the FIG affiliation for these disciplines.
The agreement is valid until the end of the current olympic cycle and new negociations will take place for the next olympic cycle.

Au Portugal, suite à un accord entre les deux fédérations, la fédération de trampoline et des sports acrobatiques (FPTDA) reste responsable pour ces disciplines mais passe par la fédération de gymnastque (FPG) pour ses relations avec la FIG. En échange, la FPTDA paie tous les frais liés au trampoline et aux sports acrobatiques, y compris l'affiliation à la FIG pour ces disciplines.
L'accord est signé pour le reste du cycle olympique et devra être renégocié pour la prochaine olympiade.

In Russia, Poland and Bulgaria each gymnastics discipline is managed by a different federation and no merger is foreseen. In Bulgaria, there is a instancy grouping the federations' presidents. In both other countries, the artistic gymnastics federation assumes the interface between the F.I.G. and the other federations.

En Russie, Pologne et Bulgarie chaque discipline gymnique est gèrée par une fédération différente et aucune fusion n'est envisagée. En Bulgarie, il existe une instance regroupant les présidents des différentes fédérations. Dans les deux autres pays, la fédération de gymnastique artistique assure l'interface entre la F.I.G. et les autres fédérations.

At the European level, discussion between UEG and EUROSAF started in April 1999. On october 30th, 1999, the UEG general assembly admitted the sports acrobatics and constituted a working group for this discipline. The EUROSAF was dissolved at the end of 1999.

Au niveau européen, les discussions entre l'UEG et l'EUROSAF ont débutés en avril 1999. Le 30 octobre 1999, l'assemblée générale de l'UEG a admis les sports acrobatiques et a constitué un groupe de travail pour cette discipline. L'EUROSAF fut dissolue à la fin 1999.

During its congress held on March 25th, 2000, the South African Gymnastics federation (SAGF) decided to integrate Sports Acrobatics to its programm by merging with the Sports Acrobatics federation.

Lors de son congrès du 25 mars 2000, la fédération de Gymnastique d'Afrique du Sud a décidé d'intégrer l'acrobatie sportive à son programme en fusionnant avec la fédération d'acrosport.

Since september 1. 1999, the austrian sports acrobatics and gymnastics federations began a technical collaboration.
As a follow of this collaboration, the gymnastics federation decided during its ordinary congress on may 6th, 2000 to integrate the sports acrobatics as one of its disciplines. The austrian sports acrobatics federation, at its general assembly held on october 14th, 2000, decided logically to dissolve itself.

Depuis le 1er septembre 1999, les fédérations autrichiennes de gymnastique et d'acrobatie sportive collaborent sur le plan technique.
Suite à cette collaboration, la fédération de gymnastique décida lors de son assemblée ordinaire du 6 mai 2000 d'intégrer l'acrobatie sportive en son sein. La fédération des sports acrobatiques autrichienne, réunie en assemblée générale la 14 octobre 2000, décida, en conséquence logique, sa dissolution.

In Germany, the merger previously foreseen for january 1st, 2001 is delayed to an undefined date which however will not be later then december 31st, 2004. This delay is due to contractual obligations.

En Allemagne, la fusion précédemment prévue pour le 1er janvier 2001 est postposée à une date indéterminée qui ne sera toutefois pas postérieure au 31 janvier 2004. Ce report est du à des obligations contractuelles.

In the United States, the trampoline federation already merged with the gymnastics federation in 1999. Discussions between the USA gymnastics and the sports acrobatics federation also occured in 1999 but they decided not to merge at that moment.
The meger was finally approved in 2001, it is effective since January 1st, 2002.

Aux Etats-Unis, la fédération de trampoline a fusionné avec la fédération de gymnastique dès 1999. Des discussions entre les fédérations américaines de gymnastique et d'acrobatie sportive ont également eu lieu en 1999 mais ils décidérent de ne pas fusionner à ce moment là.
La fusion fut finalement approuvée en 2001, elle est effective depuis le 1er janvier 2002.
