CONGRESS AIMSA large number of plant species have been widely used as remedies in traditional medicine. A very large diversity exists in the origin, the method of use and in the active principles of these plants. Nowadays, an increasing attention to traditional medicine as a valuable source for new drugs is beginning to emerge among many research teams in the world. African flora still constitutes a rich source of new pharmacological compounds. The pharmacological basis of the African medicinal plants should be investigated and the traditional pharmacopoeia should be established in the future for a rational use. The aims of the meeting are:
The scientific Program will include Plenary Sessions, Oral Communications, Poster Sessions, and Round Table Discussions on the following themes:
LanguagesThe official languages of the meeting are Arabic, English and French.
Abstract submissionAll participants wishing to submit an abstract should be registered for the conference. Registration forms should be sent latest by November 15th, 1999. Authors will be informed of acceptance before February 15th, 2000. Abstracts (max. 250 words) must be presented in English. They will appear exactly as submitted. No alterations can be made after acceptance. The authors should join a version in the language of their communication (Arabic or French). Compose your abstract single spaced inside a 11 x 16 cm box using a good quality typewriter or a printer (times new roman 12).
PostersPoster presentations are on equal rank with oral communications. Each author can present up to two posters in the normalised format 100 cm (height) x 70 cm (width). A summary of the poster must be accompanied by the registration form.

General informationsSetif is located in the east of Algeria, 300 km far from Algiers. It is situated at 1100 m above sea level. The average day temperature in April is 20°C. The nearest airports are Mohamed Boudiaf, Constantine (130 km) and Houari Boumediene, Algiers. Algiers airport is linked by Algerian airlines to most Subsaharian African countries via Cairo, Tunis, Bamako, Nouakchott, and Casablanca airports. Foreigners need a valid passport and visa for entry into Algeria. Please consult the local Algerian Embassy or Consulate. A letter of invitation or some other documents may be obtained from the Congress Secretariat upon request.
