Octave

Octave

This script has a special flavour to Serge Celebidachi who wrote it together with his long-friend James Olivier. After five years of gestation, the script has finally reached a level of international interest.

Serge’s father, the maestro himself, loved it so much that he agreed to collaborate with his son on the music score, to play for one time the music composer of his son’s film. As Serge tries to capture his father’s universe, the maestro was to enter the world of cinema...

Fate decided differently on the matter. Nevertheless, the script still exist and has just gone through its latest lift -up. Everybody familiar with the subject feel the time has come for the script to be put on the screen. Thus, Celi Production has gone into full research and is trying to gather further money to close the budget in order to be able to film over the summer 1999.

The film should cost around 12 millions French Francs to make. Celi Production has found the first 10% of the budget and searches at the moment various ways to build the right financial plan for the film to exist.

SYNOPSIS

At 82, Octave expects nothing more from life. He has reached a point where he feels that his existence is merely a sequence of exhausting commitments, and he awaits death with a sense of fatality.

The story begins as, after a very long absence, Octave returns to his childhood country house, to sell it.

Gerard, the caretaker, who lives alone on the property, has been left in charge of organising the visits by potential buyers.

As soon as he arrives, Octave is overwhelmed by a strange feeling of nostalgia. Subsequently, as he wanders through the house, he encounters the most important characters of his long forgotten childhood: his parents, his brothers and sisters, his little friends, the pretty maid, the farmer he was afraid of and Clotilde, the lovely little girl he was so in love with.

All of these characters are physically identical to how Octave left them, decades ago. Thus, retaining the aspect of an elderly man, he returns to 1923, year of his mother's tragic death, and rediscovers many of these long-gone beloved people.

Octave's platonic romance with Clotilde directs him on the path to solving certain mysteries about his past. His regular encounters with Gerard and the visitors are the only contact with present day reality.

Having, at long last, faced his past and discovered the truth about his mother's death, Octave can return, with serenity, to his present life, and turn towards a future he thought he didn't have.

The film is thought to go in pre-production with the new year, shot over the summer 1999 and edited in the fall for a release before the new millennium.
