AECAWA
COMMISSIONS AND INSTITUTE
The Statutes of AECAWA in article 12 states that: Commissions may be established by the Association to deal with issues that are of common interest to the particular Churches of the Association. These Commissions shall be governed by their own Statutes which shall be approved by the Association. The appointment of their Chairman however, shall be the prerogative of the Plenary Assembly. In line with the above, the first project undertaken by AECAWA was the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) which was established in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 1981 with the main aim of meeting the pastoral needs of AECAWA by giving quality training to priests. In addition to CIWA, the Association has Commissions - Commission on Seminaries, on Catechetics, Commission on Communication and on Inter-Religious Dialogue. Each of these Commissions has an Episcopal Chairman. ANGLOPHONE WEST AFRICA CATECHETICAL COMMISSION (AWACC) AWACC is the acronym for Anglophone West Africa Catechetical Commission. The Catechetical Directors in Anglophne West Africa, came together to improve and enhance their experiences, strategies and resources for effective evangelization in the sub-region. Rt. Rev. and development in Catechetics among the AECAWA countries and to find
ways and means to accomplish this. CATHOLIC MEDIA ASSOCIATION OF ANGLOPHONE WEST AFRICA (CAMAWA) CAMAWA is the acronym for Catholic Media Association of Anglophone West Africa. As the Communications Commission of AECAWA, it co-ordinates all media related activities of the Church in the Anglophone West African sub-region and tries to bring together all Chairmen and Secretaries of the national offices of Social Communications to plan and work together.
