Dragon's Academy

Dragon's  Academy is an association of Korean Traditional Martial Arts: Taekwondo from the " Ji-Do-Kwan " school  and Hapkido from the " Korea Hapkido Federation "  or "Daehan Hapkido". TAEKWONDO, also called " flying karate" that we practise since 1980 , is the contemporary, modern form of a Martial Art whose archaeologists estimate the origin at first century B.C. Our Martial Art is therefor 2.000 years old. The Korean people adapted the martial arts to outlive chinese and japanese multiple invasions and survived a sometimes hostile sometimes prolific environment... A concrete example of this perpetual evolution is the recent accession of Taekwondo as an Olympic  discipline!
Through its History Taekwondo has never known a similar success, counting membership of 160 countries and
around 30 million practise throughout the world! The access of Taekwondo to next the olympiades of SYDNEY in year 2000 make that he is one of the most famous martial arts. Taekwondo did already make verry strong impression at the  opening ceremony of the O.G. of SEOUL, in 1988. Although Taekwondo is a complete Martial arts: self-defense, combat conventional on one, two or three steps, basic techniques, Poom-See or Forms (KOREAN kind of Japanese Katas), impressive breakages, etc. The whole world will be able to discover this new olympic discipline through the engagements, the competition, facets most known and spectacular sport which can conclude itself by one KO, in spite of grinds protections and a strict arbitration.
... Such an exploit is ramarquable by knowing that the WTF
was founded in 1972! Also exceptional is the work of the President of the World Taekwondo Federation, Vice-President of the I.O.C., Dr KIM UN YONG.
Taekwondo is different from the other martial arts because the kicks represent of 90% of the techniques of combat(almost). The flexibility is thus a significant specificity of Martial Art . The steps and sequences are " fast ", " explosives", " dynamic "... The Martial arts that we practise rest on elementary principles: discipline, spirit, manner, respect, courage, sacrifice, modesty, patience, indomptability, cleanliness, HONESTY, etc.
We try to reach our goals

Hapkido is the very elaborate shape of self defense where the effectiveness, the speed, fluidity and coordination precede. To practise Hapkido is equivalent conditioning spirit, energy internal and external with an aim of making profitable the physical force of the adversary in order to embank it...
The fundamental principle of any martial arts is defense, not the attack! This fundamental principle is very well illustrated by
Hapkido. Hap-Ki-Do literally means "The Way of Union of Energies" also "The Way of Harmony "
Like Taekwondo, it is a Korean traditional Martial art, subtle mixture of modern and old systems , the purpose of this mode of combat is to get rid of one or more opponants as effectively and quickly as possible. There are many Schools, Federations, Associations... the principal ones are: " The Korea Hapkido ", " The Korea Hapkido Federation " and  " International The Hapkido Federation ". It is simple: the "Do" or "spirit" specific to each school, its Traditions, Principles and values which give a heart to Art Martial and enable him to survive the wire centuries. Taekwondo WTF is Unique and the membership of a " School " gets an identity with each practitioner and transmit ancestral and traditional Princips of the KOREAN martiak art .
It is an undeniable quality control mark!
The WTF did recognize kwans before 1978. In the seventies, KOREAN experts have been send through the world to teach Taekwondo, everyone was member of a "KWAN" and teach us Taekwondo like his own Master did... with the spirit, the princips, the values, ... of them/our kwan. Today teachers and masters hide existence of kwans ... Each Grand Master 9th or 10th DAN WTF is member, Founder and more often than not Chairman of a famous kwan.
