Cnocnaraw is an (recommended by) Irish/Georgian Country Inn at Moyard which is a very small village quite close to Clifden and Oughterard in the County of Galway, Southern Ireland. It is a largish private Country House which provides accommodation for visitors to Connemara. It is not an expensive, luxury establishment and its 6 ensuite bedrooms may be had for 30 to 45 irish pounds per person on a bed and breakfast basis. The breakfast itself is a choice between a traditional irish/english bacon and egg with the usual accessories or various cereals ,yogurts and stewed fruit from the orchard.-along with the home-made jams and jellies also from the garden. The taste of all this is improved by the perfectly fresh eggs which come from our own hens. In this area the recreational possibilities include salmon and trout fishing (free on the Garraunbaun Lake just down the road where there are brown trout) or at sea where there is good fishing and pollock and mackerel are plentiful or brill if you are lucky. Then there are nice walks in the hills (which we refer to as mountains) and the very good Connemara Golf Course is situated at Ballyconeely some 30 minutes drive. away. Inishboffin Island is nearby and there are ferries over from Cleggan 2 or 3 times a day in Summer.Cleggan itself is well worth a visit. It has some pubs and restaurants and a picturesque harbour and strand. On rainy days you might prefer to browse around the various "Craft Shops". that are dotted around the countryside or head into Clifden with its larger selection of shops, pubs and restaurants .(Westport is also very nice but it is 35 miles down the road and Galway is even further) Here at Crocnaraw we open for the public in May or sometimes for Easter and stay open until the middle of October .For those who prefer to visit Connemara at other times of the year there are hotels in Clifden and Renvyle and Oughterard but sometimes Crocnaraw might also be open by arrangement
