Oughterard in Connemara
Oughterard is one of the main towns in Connemara.It is a very pictureque small town about 20 miles from Galway and 30 from Clifden.With the River Owenrif running through the town people are attracted to the area by the availability of good Salmon and Trout fishing that there is on Lake Corrib.One of the better known establishments where it is possible to hire ghillies and go fishing is the Currerevagh Country House.
Also in the town ,there is an excellent Golf Course which is also popular with visitors to this part of Ireland as well as the 15th century Aughnanure Castle
