Notice for the customers in the United Kingdom

The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue = neutral; Brown = live.

As the colours of the wires of this apparatus do not necessarily correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plus, proceed as follows: the wire which is coloured blue is to be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N. [...] Do not connect the wire to  the earth terminal which is marked by E or coloured green or green-and-yellow

Soft ferrites in the construction of electrical equipment

It is possible to use such materials in the building of transformers, converters and magnetic amplifiers

The airgap alters the off-load voltage ratio of transformers, resulting from leakage inductances . It is therefore necessary to locate the windings as far as possible from the airgap.

In practice, it is advisable to carefully clamp the coil former ( or the bobbin) to avoid risk of motion, as there is a limited but real risk of changing the inductance .

It is also very important  to subject the assembly to a few temperature cycles in order to stabilize the mechanical effects of assembly
