To be able to use GoodNews you have to log into an account of the UMS
messagebase.
This can be done by supplying arguments if you start GoodNews from a shell or ToolTypes in its icon if you use the Workbench.
If you didn't supply a username or if the login attempt was not successful the login window is opened.
The Group Window is the main window of GoodNews. If you close it
GoodNews will terminate. You can select groups from here or start a
global search through the whole message base.
You can rearrange the layout of GUI elements in this window. For example, you can exchange an action or a cycle button with another one using Drag & Drop.
The Article Window is used to display a list of the messages
available for reading. You can directly select them here.
If you close the Article Window all changes are written back to the UMS messagebase as if you selected Update.

The Message Window is used for displaying messages. Multiple kind of
informations are shown and you have the possibility to manipulate the
flags of the current message.

In this window you can prepare all information for writing a Netmail
or public message.
The Global Search Window is used for entering criteria for a global
search through the UMS messagebase. You can enter AmigaDOS patterns
in the string gadgets but if you use normal strings searching will be
much faster.
All messages which match these criteria will be read from the UMS messagebase and displayed in a messagelist. If the scan window is closed while GoodNews is searching it will abort and all messages found so far will be displayed.
