DVD on OS X workaround

Mac OS X (10.1) DVD-Player WorkAround

Well, I'm sorry if the DVDRegion 1.5 comes so late. We have had many problems since the end of June and that's why it has not been distributed until september. So the version 1.5 of DVDRegion is a classic app and works only on 0Ses < X.

Since I only have one Mac, I was not able to test it and that's why I really would like to hear your feedback about this version, and tell me how good or bad it works. Please dont hesitate to email me.

I'll dont have the time to work on the OS X version this month, and I hope to be able to start working by mid October or early November.

Anyway, I have found a work around, which worked on my configuration. I dont know if it works anywhere else, but here it is. It's based a stupid bug from Apple on the DVDPlayer app.

When you launch the DVDPlayer and the zone is not previous one, It will ask you if you want to change the zone, and it will display you a dialog window

You can chose the zone you want, and then play the DVD. It's really cool isn't it ? But you can do this only 5 times. After that, the DVD player wont let you change anymore. BUT I did not quit the DVDPlayer, and I noticed that the zone of the DVD-ROM drive didn't had changed So the big stupid bug seems to be the fact that the changes are written when you quit the DVDPlayer. So what you can do to avoid the saving of the DVD zone change is to kill the app instead of quitting it normal.

It is that easy !!

I did not tried it on other hardware or other Macs, and remember that I have an RPC-1 DVD-ROM drive. So I cannot tell you if this will work for you, but there's no reason it doesn't.
