Its floor, bordered box and surrounded a double tidied of lime today centenaries, has a geometrical form that seems to near a miter of bishop.
The tradition attributes to the young André It Ours, the parternité of this garden, but there again no document allows to confirm this hypothesis.
General forms of the garden Bossuet, especially the form of its floor and that the alley of limes, have not evolved since its creation.
Nevertheless, some adaptations comtemporaines have come to upset the austerity of the garden to original French: a romantic spirit rock occupies the center of the circular basin that, originally, was vaster, but without scenery; finally magnificent rosebushes fringe on either side the central alley of the garden.
Despite that, the garden Bossuet remains a magnificent example of the tradition of the stemming gardening of the great great century.
The will of the bishop Séguier to exceed them limit battlementses to the north of the episcopal city and to spread to the delà the garden of léchéché, offer to MEAUX one of the most beautiful realizations that are: the garden of battlementses.
Having bought the portion of battlementses attenantes to the episcopal city, Dominique Séguier made fit a garden in terrace on battlementses, rather than to shave them.
This happy initiative, derives today this beautiful overcomes with its jardinet to French jouxtant the small hermitage that wears the name - " pavilion of Bossuet " -, as well as the magnificent alley of yews, long of a sixty of mêtres and particularly bicentennaire.
The garden of battlementses is habitually closed to the public. It can be visited only in the framework of visits discovered under the conduct of a lecturer guide, or well to the two opportunity national scale manifestation: the day of gardens in June and the day of the in September each patrimony year.
