GROUP FONDATION
The band was born in April 1997 when Eric and Yannick began to write songs (N.A.S.A. was the first writen by the duo). After a lot of practice and some new songs, the band recruited at the bass Eric's brother; Stephane. After several drummers musical auditions, they kept the services of Joce "Mr. D." The week after they where ready to begin on a stage.
M.Y. L.A.S.T. N.A.M.E. a Philosophy!!!
The rock situtation not being very good in the 90, the group decided to use the best of each good music to create a new style of music which is a mix of rock, funk, punk, and techno. This new style of music gives a strong and energic sound; a style which gives the musicians a great liberty to use their instruments to the utmost. A rhythm in 7/8, a sanpling of alien sound, a solo of electric quitar,heavy base sound. Music is the only limit to this style. The incredable bound between the group members gives a real sponteneous and strong show. A live show of M.Y. L.A.S.T. N.A.M.E. is an unforgetable experience and to some girls a sexual experience also.
BIOGRAPHY
- Eric "No good"
Born April 27, 1973
Instruments : electric, acoustic and classic guitar, informatical programation, vocal.
Fonctions : guitarist, writer, producer, mixer, author, sound ingeneer, extra- terrestrial communicator, father, mother, big brother.
After being a member of a few lipsynch groups; at 10 years old Eric decides to go for it: the universe of real music, and decides to play guitar. Inspired by Eddy Van Halen he does not se the time go by when he is playing the guitar; his passion. A couple of weeks later with his brother and a couple of friends they created a group named ; New Horizon. At 14 he enters the Rock On Contest organized by the Guitar Player magazine. He won a prize, his name in the prestigious magazine !!!
This event changed Eric's life and form there he decided to be a professional musician. At 16 he begins to teach guitar. After a while with mouth to ear publicity and his reputation he began to have more and more students. Now he teaches to more than 60 students. At around the same time he begans to play in rock bars with the band Short Waves. While still playing rock music, Eric found a new passion for music like jazz, funk and blues whitch leads to tje begining of a new group "Malden". In 1995, Eric wins the contest "concours de la relève du festival de blue's de Sherbrooke". The prize this time was a gold medal and the category was "Teaching guitar".
In 1995, Eric is a teacher at "L'Ecole de Musique Pianissimo" at Mont Ste-Anne private school in Sherbrooke. In 1997 he meets Yannick and form there he is a member of the group M .Y. L.A.S.T. N.A.M.E.
- Yannick "G"
Born June 17, 1978
Instruments: Principal vocal, electric and acoustic guitar
Function: Writer, author, repair man, "Dominator"
After making a lot lipsynch as the other members, he also sang when he was young. His real passion for rock music realy began at 13 with the big names of the time. He was in to rock till the "grunge alternative" music came along; this music realy changed Yannick. In February 1995 he decided to buy his first electric quitar and he learns to play by himself this new instrument. In June of the same year he write his first song "Happy looser" which later will be on the c.d. titled "take over 96". In January 1996 his first group is born "Ad Hominem", In this group Yannick is guitarist, signer, author and writer. After a lot of amateur shows in schools, festivals, and private parties, Yannick decides to improve his guitar playing and that is when he meets Eric. From their first meeting there is a real complicity betweent the two. During this period Yannick's group decides to break up, so Eric offers Yannick to form a group with him; M.Y. L.A.S.T. N.A.M.E. is born.
Joce "Mr.D"
Born November 18, 1976
Instruments : Acoustic and electric drummer, percussion instruments.
Fonction : Mixer, percussionnist, system "D" user
The begining…
After discovering percussion instruments in his music courses in high school, Joce tries to play the drum. « Mr.D » likes the sound and puts all his money aside to buy his first set of drums. He puts a lot of practice hours and Joce's name comes up as a good players in the school band. Many jams later with different formations, « Mr.D » is the founder of the group « Fearfull Crowd ». They give concerts in high school and also participate in different contest. After a change within the group the old name, « Fearfull Crowd » becomes « Whisky Jokers » and make a demo tape. In 1995, Joce joines the group « Green Day » « Dookie ». During that summer « Mr.D » temporarely remplaces the drummer of « Drown Confusion ». Then in 1996 , « One size fit all » is Jocelyn new cover groupe . Finally it is in october 1997, that « Mr.D » is part of the group M.Y. L.A.S.T. N.A.M.E.
Stephane "G.D.B."
Born March 28 1975
Instruments : electric Bass 4,5,6 strings, fretless, contrabass, vocal.
Fonction in the band: bassist, back vocal, Notorious Rapmaster C, G.D.B.
WHY THE BASS ?
At the age of 10 Stephane discover the music when founding a band with is brother and some friends. Stephane was assignes to the bass beacose he was the youngest. He decide to be the best att the bass. Inspired by bassist like Alain Caron, Billy Sheehan and Steve Harris he makes himself a name in the music shops of sherbrooke. Stephane is in the harmony, normal and advenced, all in first secondary. With his differents rock groups, his brother and the Jazz music he make bigger his musical environement.
All along his high school years Stephane discovers the power of rock music and the complexcity of jazz music. In his CEGEP years wanting new limits, he explores a new instrument: Contrabass.With this new instrument he has no limit for the kind of music he is able to play from classic to acoustic jazz. All this while still playing in bars and while taping some demo with the group « Short Waves». Then the split of the members of « Short Waves » happened, and Stepane and Eric founded a progressif group « Mladen » which later became a fusion group by the name of « So What ! ». After a couple of years of jazz and blues, Stéphane comes back to his first love of music rock. A Rock who integrate all his influences and more with M.Y. L.A..S.T N.A.M.E.
