Now available on this site : the first 3-dimensional draughts program.
It is called Windames 3D. The game was made by Jean-Bernard
Alemanni. It works under Windows 95. Though it is certainly not the best
program (not yet!!), the software has got a pretty good standard and will
be the ideal companion for most players, especially beginners.

As many things in draughts world, best softwares are Dutch. The reference, so far, was Truus (analysing version). This software is really good (It plays at French top players level) and has a very interesting feature: it can analyse your game(s) all by itself, without human intervention. You can get this software from the Dutch federation (225 guilders). |
Recent softwares are as good as Truus and probably even better. Flits 95 has just won the Dutch computer championship for the second time. Truus was not taking part this time. Ask for info about Flits 95 and Dios 97 to the KNDB.

Harm Jetten's Dam 2.2 is also a bright program and it is completely free. The newest version (2.2) even allows you to play via Internet against another human opponent. Have a look at the site of Dam 2.2 for downloading it. |

Turbo Dambase (version 2) is now available.
This software gathers 185000 games from international tournaments from 1875. This extremely powerful tools allows you, in 20 seconds to get the games you are looking for. You can choose them according to the opening, the position, the type of position, the tournament, the date, the number of pieces... And all these choices can be mixed. You can then get the games played by Sijbrands in simultaneous games between 1970 and 1980, for instance. Once the search is done, you can sort the games in order to study them in the order you wish. Statistics about the most played moves and percentage of wins are then available. Turbo Dambase is the ideal tool in many situations. Whether you want to study an opening, or your next opponent's game, or similar positions, Turbo Dambase 2 will help you make tremendous progress. Turbo Dambase 2 is now available in Dutch, English and French. The price is 300 guilders in the Netherlands, 310 guilders in Europe, and 315 for the rest of the world (including forwarding charges). Testkees, is a software from Arjan van Leeuwen, one of the best players in the Netherlands. It allows you to learn combinations with your computer. You can use this program with modules of 400 positions. Each module is dedicated to a particular level or a given system. Available modules are: Beginners 1 et 2, Good 1, Expert 1, End games 1. If you want to get it in its Dutch version, contact the KNDB. If you prefer the French version, click here to order. That is 160FF for the program itself (Forwarding charges included) and 70FF for each module (Forwarding charges included). Special tariffs for schools and clubs.

As far as French programms are concerned, Goto Dames must be quoted, because it is the most beautiful. As it is also the weakest, it is perfect for beginners and children. |

Dambord is a very interesting program for making diagrams and importe them into any word processor. Lots of features. The shareware version is on the KNDB site. |
