Between
october 15 th and november Ist, all the fuchsias that
can't stand cold weather, must be sheltered
before the first frosts.
In our
house, they have, first, been stored in an open shed, to be trimmed and
then put in a closed shed of the house, with
walls about 60 cms wide, which keeps them out of
frost.
Trimming :
when we have stored all your plants, when they
are still flowering, we cut off every flower and
every leaf of each plant, and clean the surface of
the compost of each container,
and finally, we trim more or less the small
branches to give balance to their habit.
We are sure that, if we act
so, we avoid entering illnesses, aleurodes and
others.
We have worked thus for
many years.
The boughs, in their
containers are kept in a weakly lit room ( a
small window). After moistening them, we leave
them asleep for about three monsths and a half
without any intervining.
At the beginning of march,
we carry them again in the open shed, in the
daylight, and progressively, we will clean and
repot them if necessary.
So a new cycle is starting.
