Chronology
1697 Birth in Oberscheden (close to Gottingen) on January 30.
1707 Studies the violin with his uncle in Mersebourg
1716 Quantz establishes himself in Dresdes
1717 Study of the composition with Johann Georg Pisendel.
1718 Quantz is allowed in the Orchestra of the Royal Chapel of Dresdes.
1719 Quantz studies the flute with Pierre Gabriel Buffardin.
1720 First compositions.
1723 In Prague, Quantz attends a concert of the violonist Giuseppe Tartini.
1724 Travel to Italy. Study of the counterpoint in Rome with Gasparini.
1725 Quantz attends a representation of opera with Farinelli and the soprano Tesi. Meets Alessandro Scarlatti in Naples.
1726 Meets Michel Blavet in Paris and George Fredric Haendel in London.
1727 Quantz is allowed flute solo in the Orchestra of the Royal Chapel of Dresdes.
1728 Meets Frederic, Royal Prince of Prussia.
1741 Quantz is named composer of the Royal Room, professor of flute of King of Prussia and composer of the Court.
1747 Meets Johann Sebastian Bach in Potsdam.
1750 Meets Voltaire.
1752 Publication of the Treaty Versuch einer Answeisung die Flute zu spielen.
1773 Meets Charles Burney. Dies in Potsdam .
