Wrocław,
the capital of Lower Silesia, is the
fourth largest city in Poland with 640,000 inhabitants. It lies on Odra river
(in German Oder) 270 km from Cracow, 310 km from Warsaw and 200 km from Dresden
(Germany). Wrocław
is an important industrial, transportation and communication center for all
Southern Poland. The city was partly destroyed at the end of World War II; it
has been now reconstructed and some of the damaged historical buildings have
been restored.
Wrocław
has now regained its former splendour and can pride itself on being one of the
most beautiful cities in Eastern Europe.
