Mountain lovers, don't forget Samoëns!
The ancient village of Samoens is situated in the beautiful
valley of the Giffre river nestling in the mountains of the Haute Savoie. The area is a
paradise for walkers of all standards, from pleasant valley strolls through lovely alpine
scenery to classic routes in the mountains
But, it's not a museum!
Samoens is a centre for almost every outdoor activity; ski, rock
climbing, canyoning, canoeing, rafting, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing and
parapenting are all very popular.
It forms part of the Grand Massif ski area which includes the
neighbouring villages of Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz, Sixt and the new 13km piste through
Lac de Gers. This is one of the largest and most beautiful ski circuits in the Alps. There
is 260km of downhill skiing of all standards and a vast amount of cross country skiing on
specially traced pistes.
