Popeuse is pretty finished… In fact all the main implementation is finished: sending part and receiving part are done ( but i still have to works on features).
For now with Popeuse you are supposed (beta testing period is beginning) to be able to send message to receive message and to hear a sound when a message is arrived you can even choose if you what sound and which sound you want.
Nickname change works: you can send message to a person with a different name => useful to make jokes .
For now preferences and past message are kept in a file.
I still have to make :
- a sorting function (for now all message appears in the same window)
- a better ABOUT section => i will forget Balert for a nicer home made Bwindow
- deleting message is not implemented yet. (not very hard)
- exception have to be improved since when Popeuse doesn't find the text of a message (which can be du to a problem with SMBD) it beguin the receving process and just crash because of the miss of the message.
PS: for now the program in usual fonction is pretty stable. (I have crashed the application once time only )

I have decided to create this little home page on demand. As all the beos users know the samba implementation in R4.5 is experimental so there are very few applications using it.
That was the starting point of my decision of making an application based on SAMBA for beos. The other part of the problem is that there is no winpopup (or linpopup) program on beos => that is the purpose of my application: popeuse.
For people who haven't understand what I am talking about … I explain
Popeuse is a program which allow a beos based station to send message in mailslot format so that windows, linux (and other unix running SAMBA) and beos stations can send message to each other
Let's talk about popeuse more specifically …. (features will be add as soon as I get time to do)
POPEUSE integrate a filter that makes difference between message address to you, to your group or to all the LAN.
A different sound is played when a message arrived (the sound deal with the kind of message).
A automatic answer when you set AWAY
An ability to change (in real time) your group or name to make jokes
A log of conversations ( maybe)
