uncompress the virtualmat* files in your 3DSMAX_Path/scripts/startup
directory.
launch 3dsMax release v4.
open the material editor.
click on the 'Standard' button of any empty material
in order to change the material type.
choose 'Vmat:Plain/Pattern' for example.
click on the 'floater' button in the 'Material test'
rollout.
this should open a new floating panel. Click on 'Evaluate'.
you should now have a white sphere on a blue background.
If you can not obtain this basic image, be sure that VirtuaLight
is correctly installed. If the problem persists, just send a
