Tennis Borussia - The Girls: News and Stories

- November 1999 -

News from 11/28/99:

The damaged show case was dismantled and now there is just one of the SCC (the other club, which uses the stadium for its activities).

Result from 11/28/99:

10th Round of the Northeastern Regional League:
Tennis Borussia - USV Jena: 1 - 0 (0 - 0)
fireworks to celebrate the halftime-championship
USV Jena tried hard to avoid the loss of the points and to stay in touch with the leading positions of the league. At the end of the match the women of Tennis Borussia showed their better physical condition and won deservedly. Now the 'violets' are halftime-champions even before the last round of the leg. Congratulations!

Stories from 11/26/99:

At today's training a young woman, newly arrived from Croatia, was seen on the field. Maybe a reinforcement of the defence is planned.

Somebody broke the window-pane of the display case in front of the Mommsenstadion, where advertisements of the women's football section was shown. We hope, that it will be repaired soon and that this accident will be used to finally update the pictures and announcements.

Result from 11/20/99:

9th Round of the Northeastern Regional League:
BVB Halle 93 - Tennis Borussia: 0 - 3 (0 - 1)
Goals: 3 x Prühs (~ 44', 58', 65')
cautioned: N.N. (BVB)
ticketAs the field was covered by snow there was no good football match to take place today. It was more a question of luck who got the ball and some unpleasant surprise could have happened to our girls. In spite of the circumstances they showed a quite good performance and 30 spectators as well as a local TV-team saw their improving play as the match continued. At the end they had to fight against a rather aggressive team from Halle and an obviously snowblind referee.

Some news from 11/17/99:

Fortunately the injury of Petra Feinbube is not as serious as expected. She might be able to play the match against USV Jena on November 28th. The next match will also be missed by team's captain Sybille Brüdgam because of her knee problems. Besides Kerstin Elger caught an influenza and cannot join the team at the moment.

News about the omitted cup-match from last week. It seems so, that Adler Lichtenrade had advanced the match on tuesday, which nobody from Tennis Borussia knew. So our women did not arrive that day and it was evaluated in favour of Adler Lichtenrade. In consequence TeBe sent a protest at the Berlin Football Association and we shall see how their jury will decide.

Result from vom 11/14/99:

8th Round of the Northeastern Regional League:
Tennis Borussia - 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam II: 10 - 2
Goals: Prühs (~ 5') 1-0, Bluhm (~ 10') 2-0, Brüdgam (~ 22') 3-0, Prühs (~ 30') 4-0, N.N. (~ 35') 4-1, N.N. (~ 40') 4-2, Feinbube (~ 50') 5-2, Feinbube (~ 52') 6-2, Prühs (~ 80') 7-2, Baier (~ 85') 8-2, Prühs (~ 87') 9-2, Manzer (~ 89') 10-2
cautioned: Elger (TeBe)
Today our women showed all their abilities and 10 goals give a good impression of their power, although Turbine Potsdam was not the weakest team they met during the current season. On the contrary Turbine never gave up and tried to attack until the last minute of the match, but they had no real chance against the determined 'violets'.
Rather sad was the injury of Petra Feinbube, which happened shortly after her second score. She had to be taken away and everybody hopes that the situation looked worse than it is.

News from 11/10/99:

Strangely enough no match between Tennis Borussia and Adler Lichtenrade II took place today. It is reported that Adler Lichtenrade changed the date of the match to yesterday, which was not known by TeBe. As a consequence our women did not arrive at the field on Tuesday and the victory was assigned to Lichtenrade. Tennis Borussia entered a protest at once and we shall see, how the jury of the Berlin football association will decide.

Fixture from 11/04/99:

The cup tournament match Tennis Borussia - Adler Lichtenrade II will take place on wednesday, 11/10/99 on 7:00 PM on the field at Körtingstraße, Berlin-Mariendorf.
The match was postponed because some of the players - Viola Bluhm, Jessica Brückner and Jennifer Manzer - had been called to join the Berlin U 20-team at a match for the Federal Country Cup in Hamburg this weekend.

News from 11/04/99:

The 'violet infirmary' reports the convalescence of Tanja Zander and Jessica Reichow. Birgit Baier also will probably restart to exercise on friday. Only missing is Petra Feinbube, suffering from influenza.
Fortunately there is no match scheduled for the next weekend and the team has time enough to recover to the old strength.
